Killer Sudoku Difficulty Guide
Our labels mirror classic-grid density today; combine them with cage tutorials when solving published Killer puzzles.
On ProPuz’s Killer Sudoku vertical, we currently generate standard Sudoku puzzles—difficulty still maps to clue density and logic depth. When you tackle offline Killer puzzles with cages, expect extra calibration work from sums that shrink candidate lists.
Easy (45-50 givens)
Best for beginners, kids, and casual players. You can solve many cells using last free cell, last possible number, and obvious singles. Start here if you are new or returning after a break.
Medium (35-40 givens)
A balanced daily challenge. In addition to singles, you may need hidden singles and light candidate elimination. Great for building consistency and speed.
Hard (28-34 givens)
Designed for experienced solvers. Notes become essential. Expect naked/hidden pairs and triples, and occasional advanced eliminations. Focus on structure instead of guessing.
Expert (22-27 givens)
For puzzle enthusiasts who enjoy deep logic. You may encounter advanced ideas like X-Wing, Swordfish, and chain-style reasoning. Use the Techniques page as your companion.
How to progress
